‍JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for safely operating and maintaining heavy machinery to support a variety of construction activities, including excavation, grading, loading, and site preparation. This is a physically demanding position that requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Safely operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, skid steers, bulldozers, and other construction machinery.

  2. Perform excavation, grading, trenching, loading, backfilling, and site preparation.

  3. Inspect equipment before and after use and report any maintenance or mechanical issues.

  4. Follow project plans, site layouts, and grade specifications.

  5. Work closely with laborers, foremen, and other crew members to complete projects efficiently.

  6. Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all company and OSHA safety requirements.

  7. Assist with general construction duties when equipment operation is not required.

  8. Properly secure and shut down equipment at the end of each workday.

  9. Monitor equipment performance and perform basic maintenance and lubrication as needed.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of experience in earthwork and underground utility construction

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable mode of transportation

  • Can reliably and safely operate a company vehicle when needed

  • Able to read and comprehend plans and construction standards to perform work correctly and safely

  • Ability to perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance

  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and MVR
